NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY

NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY

In 1970s New York, failed actor, Kit, is haunted by his deceased theatre-star mother. He dreams of stepping out from under her shadow and seeing his name in The New York Times. Turning serial killer might be the performance that finally makes that happen! Adopting a myriad of disguises, including a tango instructor, French waiter, female barfly, and priest, Kit is pursued by unsuccessful detective, Morris, who lives with his overbearing mother. He longs for his mother’s approval, stepping out from under the shadow of his more successful brother. Whose career-defining moment will make the headlines?

Based on the novel by Academy Award Winner William Goldman (Marathon Man, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), this darkly comedic musical thriller from Douglas Cohen and William Goldman, is a devilish blend of humour, romance, and murder. Douglas J. Cohen is the recipient of the Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting, two Richard Rodgers Awards, a Jonathan Larson Grant, the Gilman & Gonzalez-Falla Theatre Foundation Award, and the inaugural Noël Coward Prize. Winner of a 1987 Richard Rodgers grant, No Way To Treat A Lady was nominated for Best Revival by the New York Outer Critics Circle. This amateur production of No Way To Treat A Lady is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd (www.concordtheatricals.co.uk).
